What about what happened on 911?

I hear the question being asked everyday down there.  In the halls of  school.  Around the water cooler at the office.  On the trains, on the buses and in the car pools as you drive to and from school  and work.  Most of the time, it's never even asked out loud...it just quietly simmers in the back of your mind...as if you're afraid to come right out and ask me directly.  Has it been that long since you spoke to me that you're not sure that you can now?   My friend,  you should never be afraid to come to me...about anything...especially about something as important to understand as this.  So today, I will not wait for you to come to me.  Today, I will come to you.  The creator of the universe, the Alpha and Omega, the first and last, will come to you and address your question right now...how could I allow the attack upon the world trade centers and the pentagon to happen?  Why didn't I stop it?

I have to admit that there are parts of this answer that you will simply not understand for at least as long as the time between now and when you and I meet face to face.  But there are some things you do need to know and understand...things that will put this evil event in perspective.  So let me start by sharing with you the two concepts that require understanding first...they are love and free will.

When I decided to create "man", my plan was to enjoy a loving, mutually loving relationship with each  and every one of  you.  I would shower you with love and care for you like no one can.  You would then love me and fellowship with me in return.  Isn't that how all relationships should be?  Two people loving and caring for each other...no one taking advantage of the other?  Each one trusting the other to be honest and faithful?  So I set up Eden in such a way that it was nearly perfect...with one exception.  I had to allow for the opportunity for you  to reject my love.  That's right...I wanted to give you the opportunity to decide for yourself whether or not you would love me.   True love is only true when it is given voluntarily, right?  I didn't create you to be robots designed to love me be because of your programming, I wanted you to love me because you knew I love you.

So I allowed for the prospect of rejection.  And in allowing for rejection, I had to allow for the consequences of rejection.  And one of the more disdainful consequences of rejection is evil.  Evil comes from those who do not understand what true love is.  Like those men who flew those planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon,  They had no concept of what love is.  They had no concept of who I AM!

But those men made a terrible decision to take thousands of innocent lives.  That was their decision...and it was a result of their rejection of Me.  But...it would be unjust and unfair of me to single out only specific persons and force my will upon them and not force my will upon EVERYONE!  And so, sadly, I must watch as the consequences of a person's actions reveal themselves to you.  They are no surprise to me...but to you...I know they can seem overwhelming.  But be comforted...for all things work together for the good of those who love me and are called according to my purpose.  That means if you love me, and if you are following my plan for your life, horrific, evil events such as those carried out on September 11th, will be used for your greater good and the good of all mankind.

In the meantime, I will be here to love and comfort when you feel lonely and sad.  To give you courage when you are afraid.  To give you strength when you are weak.  And to protect your eternal soul, when your physical body is no longer usable.   In light of all that is happening, don't you think it's time you finally put your trust in someone who can do all this for you and more?  Let's talk.  - God

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose.
(Romans 8:28)

The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. (Psalm 9:9)
